Overview

Braided ropes are generally made from nylon, polyester, or high performance fibres such as high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) and aramid. Nylon is chosen for its strength and elastic stretch properties.

Key features

  • Braided ropes have a round, smooth construction that distributes wear over a greater area.
  • Braided rope is strong and durable, making it a good choice for applications that require high strength and durability, such as rigging and halyards.
  • Braided rope's round, smooth construction distributes wear over a larger area, making it more resistant to abrasion than other types of rope.
  • Braided polyester rope has a high resistance to ultraviolet rays.
  • Braided ropes can be single or double braided, with the double braided rope being thicker and stronger.
