Bow shackle, screw pin
A bow shackle with a screw collar pin. The rounded bow takes a load from more than one direction, which is why it goes on multi-leg slings and wide hitches.

Care and replacement
Before each lift, check that the pin is fully screwed home and that the body is not bent, stretched, cracked or worn by more than a tenth of its original section. Replace a shackle whose WLL marking can no longer be read. Never substitute a bolt for the pin.
